The Covid Pandemic provided us the opportunity to collaborate with 13 organizations to reach 801,003 informal workforces and street vendors across India in the last two years. These organizations include eight Street Vendors Associations and five Informal Workers’ Associations. We influenced and supported the informal workforce and street vendor partners to prioritize strengthening the capacities and knowledge of their leaders and volunteers and focus on health as a core area of intervention; whereas earlier their focus was primarily on livelihood support.
The Street Vendor and Informal Workforce organizations have been actively working on COVID prevention, care and management, vaccination, awareness on social protection schemes and digital financial literacy along with relief support (nutrition, hygiene kits, personal protective equipment and medical equipment). We will continue to support these organizations on resilience to prepare them for future emergencies and remain healthy
